Roman Bronze Mirror

DESCRIPTION:

Vanity is ageless. It is no surprise, then, that this remarkable bronze mirror once reflected the face of a Roman citizen looking to assure their appearance was as faultless as we do the same today. Once polished, the shiny bronze would have reflected his or her face almost perfectly while applying makeup or doing one’s hair. The minor embellishments along the mirror’s reverse side and handle lend a sense of refinement to this otherwise simple instrument. This piece is in excellent condition and stands 23.5 cm in height. This mirror dates from the height of Rome’s golden age of approximately 100 AD – 300 AD.
