Glass Jar with Two Handle and Applied Glass Threading
The translucent glass of this glass jar is an exquisite example of the crisp output of ancient Rome’s many glassworks. The jar’s smooth sea-green exterior is threaded with four glass bands around its body, which are in turn punctuated by the bold and wandering zigzag along its base.
This lovely jar was produced during Rome’s extended decline, yet its expert craftsmanship has defied the rigors of downfall and time. This piece remains in excellent condition.
