Syro-Hittite Double Headed Figurine
This mysterious two-headed figurine is of Syro-Hittite origin, dating from approximately four thousand years ago during the Middle Bronze Age. Inspired by the myths and religion of that time, this piece shows two faces embellished with bird-like features such as the pointed noses, round concentric eyes, and the stylized tabs on either side of their faces.
This piece may have represented one of the region’s many deities of this era. The figure’s arms are pulled close to its breast, just below the large cords where the neck connects to the arrow-shaped body. This piece is in excellent condition.
